At the top of Mount Calamorro, reachable by cablecar (Teleférico) although you could walk it, is the Valle de las Águillas, where you can see various birds of prey soar high above, meet their latest offspring and watch a display of falconry.
Run by the Fundación Valle de las Águilas, it is a centre for breeding and rescue as well as being a centre for the ancient art of falconry, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is a practice passed down from generation to generation in countries around the world.
Weather and other considerations may affect the timings of the exhibitions, but it is fascinating, especially if you end up with a Harris's Hawk perched on your head.
And the views from the cablecar on the way up and at the top are absolutely stunning.
